Another one down

So, another one down. I had originally completed this chapter somewhere in the region of 6 times! Every time I've gone to edit, I seem to add more to the characters interactions.

I spoke to an old college friend the other day and we discussed my books, writing style, characters among other things. She is eagerly awaiting book 3 (which is a long way from completion) and asked me if this would be the last of this series. The truth is, I just don't know!

When I began writing, it was an escape from my normal life. I never envisaged completing even one book. I mean, I wanted to, but couldn't ever foresee a finish line. Now I'm writing book 3, I no longer write just to escape. To quote one of my favourite music artists NF, "I'm doing this because I have to." I've become so attached to the characters and world I've created, I can't let go. The characters to me are now family, I love to see what they're going to get up to next and although it is me who decides their fates, some of the words of dialogue, or their thoughts come as a surprise to even me!

I really don't know if this will be the Tiders last outing. I want to write other stories and even though I know I can create new characters and situations, the Tiders are just too fun to let go of.

This is the first time I have written without sharing anything. For the first two books, I had a team of talented and willing individuals who read each new chapter after it was written. This time, even though I second guess myself, I feel more confident. I want the whole story complete before anyone gets a look-in! This was another topic of conversation between me and my college friend. She said book 2 shows progression and my growing confidence. My daughter has said pretty much the same and everyone I speak to agrees that I am very descriptive, I always think I'm not descriptive enough!

Anyway, chapter 7 is complete, somewhere around 25,000 words now. This book has some smaller chapters than the first two, another thing I second guess myself about on a daily basis! I better get on, I fully intend (OK, hope!) to complete two more chapters this half term while I have the time. We'll see, like the Tiders, mostly I just wing it! Much love to you all.
